The Santa Monica College Photography Gallery is proud to present an exhibit of photos from the set of the Oscar-winning film "Slumdog Millionaire" by SMC alumna Ishika Mohan.

The exhibit runs March 2-27, with an artist's reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. The SMC Photography Gallery is located on the second floor of Drescher Hall on SMC's main campus, 1900 Pico Blvd.

Mohan, who graduated from the SMC photo program in fall 2000, was hired in Mumbai by "Slumdog" producer Christian Colson and director Danny Boyle - both of whom won Oscars Sunday for Best Picture and Best Director, respectively - to shoot stills of what would become an international sensation. "Slumdog" has won numerous awards, including eight Academy Awards.

It's done brilliantly, much better than any of us thought or anticipated, Mohan said. "All I knew at the time of shooting was that I was a part of something that was honest and very special."

Mohan said being on the sets of "Slumdog" was "a wonderful learning experience," and she praised Boyle and Anthony Dod Mantle, the director of photography, for their artistic vision, patience and support.

For me, being on set was like living the film, Mohan said. "With Danny's passion and Anthony's stunning storytelling visuals, I was made to push the boundaries of what I was used to - physically yes, because of the long hours, but mentally as well."

Before "Slumdog," Mohan had shot stills for four films.

The SMC Photography Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call (310) 434-4289.
