The Santa Monica College Theatre Arts Department is pleased to present "Picasso
at the Lapin Agile," comedian Steve Martin's absurdist comedy about a
meeting of Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein in 1904 in a Paris bar.
The play will be presented Oct. 23-25 in the Theatre Arts Studio Stage, located
on the main campus at 1900 Pico Blvd. Show times are Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday
at 2 and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 and 7 p.m.
"Picasso" follows the two giants of their fields when both are
on the verge of amazing ideas - Einstein will publish his special theory of
relativity in 1905 and Picasso will paint Les Demoiselles d'Avignon in 1907.
In the Lapin Agile, they muse and debate about the value of genius and talent
while interacting with a host of other characters.
Tickets are $10, and a $1-per-ticket service charge is added.
Call (310) 434-4319 or go to www.smc.edu/eventsinfo. Parking is free on Friday
evenings and weekends.
