Fall 2009 "Evening of SMC Student Films"
11 December 2009

Edition: 8 December 2009

Santa Monica College is proud to present its traditional end-of-semester screening of student films produced by members of the SMC Student Filmmakers Association - the culminating event showcasing a semester's length of student filmmakers' creative work.

The lively evening will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 in Room 214 of the SMC Art Complex, 1900 Pico Blvd. The event is free, as is parking. Seating is limited and is on a first-arrival basis.

With short films ranging across all genres, this bi-annual public exhibition of SMC student film work offers a wide diversity of filmmaking visions and voices representing SMC's eclectic mix of national origins and ethnicities. Student filmmakers take great pride in showcasing their work to the campus community, as well as to the community-at-large.

The SMC Student Filmmakers Association is one of the Inter-Club Council's most popular student organizations on campus. Films are made on ultra-low budgets, completely student-financed, and are mostly shot on digital video and edited on home computer systems. Some of the club's members are also Film Studies majors at SMC, and many have aspirations to go on to more advanced study at major film schools such as UCLA and USC. In addition, the club's most serious filmmakers have aspirations to work professionally in the motion picture industry as writers, directors, producers and more.

The evening of SMC student films is sponsored by the SMC Communication Department in association with the Student Filmmakers Association.
