SMC Entertainment Industry Speaker Series Under Way

Santa Monica College is pleased to announce the lineup for its spring entertainment industry speakers series.

All of the speakers in the free Mary Pickford Speakers Series are scheduled on Mondays at 7 p.m. in the Screening Room at SMC's Academy of Entertainment & Technology, 1660 Stewart St., Santa Monica.

The lineup for the remainder of the spring 2009 semester is:

* March 8 - Ellen Sandler, Emmy-nominated co-executive producer of "Everybody Loves Raymond" and the creator of original pilots for both network and cable TV. She is also a playwright who recently produced and directed her adaptation of New York Times food writer Mimi Sheraton's book "The Bialy Eaters" for the Jewish Women's Theatre.

* April 5 - Joey Plewa, actor in TV shows and in films that include Die Hard and Road House. He has also produced music videos for talent ranging from Metallica to Ricky Martin to Michael Jackson.

* Date To Be Determined - Ron Diamond, executive producer and founder of ACME Filmworks, an Oscar-nominated commercial animation studio that also acts as a talent agency representing independent animators to prospective ad agencies and other clients.

* Date To Be Determined - Kerry Armstrong, creator and producer of The Moth StorySLAM, an exciting, eclectic live-theater event that gives a microphone, a theme and a forum for five minutes to 10 everyday people for their stories, which are scored by teams of audience-member judges.
