JANUARY 6, 2010 - CONFERENCE OPENER AND A WIN: The Lady Hornets opened up OEC conference-play with a check in the win column beating Saddleback College 71-59 on Wednesday night.

Now 17-1 overall and 1-0 in the Orange Empire Conference, the FC women's basketball team opened up the season with a home a conference win.

In the first half, Saddleback kept the game close with some sharp 3-point shooting from the Gaucho's Johnondra Patterson (3-4 from the 3-point line). At the end of the half FC led 38-31. FC shot a mere 26.6% from the floor.

In the second half, FC stepped it up offensively shooting 53.8% from the floor keeping their lead over Saddleback for the remainder of the contest.

FC guard had a very good game scoring 19 points (game high) with 12 rebounds. Forward Danielle Ekno scored 10 points with 6 boards and Destainee Rudison-Hollis scored 8 points with 5 boards.

Up Next: The Lady Hornets (17-1, 1-0) will travel to cross-town rival Cypress College this Friday, January 8th. Game time is at 7:30 pm.
